Happy Birthday Art Deco Style

Happy Birthday Art Deco Style   My father-in-law's birthday is fast approaching and I wanted to do something a little different.  So I bought the Art Deco cartridge from Micheal's during the Thanksgiving sale.  It's very 20's flapper style...not that my father-in-law is that old.  I just thought it would be really cool to do it up ol' school.   All papers are from Recollections 835x11 paper packs. Cricut Image Cartridge: page37<HghlndPk>, <Hglnd-s> , <layer hghlndk> and <layer hghlnd-s> size 5.75.  This was hard to put together at this size.  Its definitely better at a 6.5 or higher.  The book says not to do it smaller than 5 inches but the top segment on <layer hghlndk> was very hard to get off so I ended up having to use the inside which is not used to make it work.  I also used the Teresa Collins 6x6 paper pack called "World Traveler".  The stamp sentiment on the inside ...

OPERATION WRITE HOME     I came across this site about a week ago.  You see as I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been con convelescent leave due to surgery and decided that since this is such a worthy cause and the fact that I love to make cards I thought why not give it a try.  Well I did and in a week I made 105 cards to send out to Operation Write Home ( http://operationwritehome.org/ ).  So far OWH has sent out 1,749,393 handcrafted cards have been deployed since 2007!    This is so amazing and I just wanted to contribute something to my fellow brethern in uniform who are away from home and are in some location where they can not buys cards to send home to their families on special occasions or just to say "I Miss You".... So below is just a few pictures I have taken of the crads I created that will go out in the mail today.  So if you get a chance, check out the website.  They also have a YouTube videos as well (  htt...

Me & Dad Clowning Around

This was one of those rare moments with my dad.  Often we take the normal family snap shot before he leaves to go back home but this time was different.  We decided to be a little corny for the camera (sorry for the bad camera shot - pic is not this dark or red).  My dad will pick a weekend that we have as a holiday and drive down and stay a couple of days.  We end up having to pack in a lot of family time into a couple of days.  My dad has since retired from the military and teaching so he has some free time on his hands when he is not vacationing.  We don't get to see him as often so we try to make all time count.  The paper is warped becasue I sprayed different mists on it and it did not dry flat.  I wanted to try some different techniques on this page.  I deceided not the mat the pics so instead I took a marker and went around the photo.  I used embrodiery thread to tie the banners together.  Im trying to venture outside of m...

Best Friends Imagine Cartridge

I have had this cart on my list since it came out.  I finally bought it at JoAnn's for $44.00.  I so love this cartridge.  I used it to showcase my girla playing basketball.  I love how the cart allows you to choose from different outfits, hair styles and skin tones.  The 12x12 bazzill and i used bazzill white 12x12 to do the printed background as well.  My journaling is through microsoft word and I used the micheals recollections stitiched punch to go around the 8x11 pink archivers cardstock.  actually all of the images were printed/cut using 1 sheet of bazzill white 12x12 cardstock.

Man...Dog...Exhausion?

Well as my awesome husband pointed out to me...I misspelled "exhausion" in the title but spelled it correctly in the journaling.  I was going to fix it but I normally am a terrible speller so this page is "truly" me....I got a new toy...its the Silhouette Cameo to use for titles and this entire page was created using the Cameo.  I got a good deal on "black friday" and I am so glad I waited.  It does 12x12 pages and I got a free $10 gift card and it was half priced digital images so the machine comes with 50 and I bought 10 more and still have $5 on my account.  I watched several videos where they had a cricut and a silhouette SD.  They do work beautifully together.  I find myself using it for the text and to cut intricate backgrounds. Itms used: 12x12 shiny grey brazzill letters DCWV beige recollections paws and bones tim holtzs embossed kraft paper gold leafing pen flocked paper from michaels
