As promised, I’m back with my review of the second installment in Lauren Asher's Dirty Air series, Collided. Although each book can be read as a standalone, this series shines because of its interconnected storylines, so I strongly suggest starting with Throttled before diving into this one. Watching familiar characters reappear and seeing events overlap adds another layer to the reading experience.  Lauren Asher takes readers back into the high-speed world of Formula 1 with Collided, delivering romance, humor, emotional growth, and chemistry. This installment follows Liam Zander and Sophie Mitchell, two characters introduced in Throttled (Noah & Maya's story - Maya and Sophie are close friends).

McCoy's bad boy Liam is considered Formula 1 royalty.  Talented, charismatic, and adored by fans worldwide. Beneath his confident German exterior lies a man carrying emotional scars resulting from the death of his best friend that he carefully hides behind his charming playboy image. Racing has always been his safe place, but meeting Sophie forces him to confront feelings he's spent years avoiding.  Sophie has spent most of her life living according to her father's expectations. As the daughter of Bandini's team principal, she's used to following rules and putting her own dreams aside. With graduation approaching and the opportunity to travel during the racing season, Sophie decides it's finally time to step outside her comfort zone. Determined to experience life on her own terms, she creates a daring bucket list one that unexpectedly lands in Liam's hands.

What starts as a seemingly harmless arrangement quickly evolves into something far more complicated. Their agreement to secretly complete Sophie's list creates countless entertaining moments, but the growing attraction between them makes maintaining boundaries nearly impossible. Add in team rivalries, contract restrictions, and family expectations, and the stakes become incredibly high.  One of the strongest aspects of this novel is the character development. Sophie's journey toward independence is both relatable and inspiring. Watching her discover what truly makes her happy, rather than simply pursuing what others want for her, made her an easy character to root for. Liam's emotional arc was equally compelling. Seeing him slowly lower his walls and allow someone into his life added significant depth to his character.

The relationship between Liam and Sophie felt authentic from beginning to end. Their playful exchanges never seemed forced, and their natural chemistry made every interaction enjoyable. The banter is witty, the emotional moments are heartfelt, and the romantic scenes are undeniably steamy. Lauren Asher expertly balances lighthearted moments with deeper themes surrounding family, grief, expectations, and self-discovery.  Even though there is a greater emphasis on the romance than on the racing itself, the Formula 1 backdrop remains exciting and immersive. The international race locations, team rivalries, and behind-the-scenes atmosphere continue to make this series incredibly addictive.

Overall, Collided is an entertaining, emotional, and sizzling sports romance that perfectly combines forbidden attraction with meaningful personal growth. Liam and Sophie's story had me fully invested until the very last page. I especially loved how Lauren Asher showed both Liam and Sophie learning to choose happiness for themselves rather than living according to everyone else's expectations. Their growth made the romance even more rewarding.  If you enjoy Formula 1 romances featuring friends-to-lovers dynamics, secret relationships, and unforgettable chemistry, this book deserves a spot on your reading list.
